Estia Health takes next step in rapid growth across Australian aged care

The provider’s latest acquisitions will see its national portfolio grow from 78 to 94 homes

Estia Health will again extend its reach in Queensland, taking over the ownership of seven residential aged care homes in its fourth major acquisition since December 2024.

Estia Health will take over six of Vacenti’s operational homes in Brisbane – Hamilton, Coorparoo, Carindale, Mount Gravatt East, Victoria Point, and Birkdale – along with a new facility nearing completion in Cleveland.

The provider currently operates 87 homes across Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales, caring for over 10,000 older Australians annually.

Estia Health chief Sean Bilton noted the Vacenti takeover will complement existing facilities on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

“We are delighted that we are able to increase our commitment of care and services for older people through the management of approximately 750 additional residential aged care places across these seven homes,” Mr Bilton said.

Both Estia Health and Vacenti management teams have engaged directly with residents, their families, and employees to ensure a smooth transition.

Julian Casagrande, chief executive officer of Vacenti, said he was proud of his family’s legacy of providing care in Brisbane for over five decades.

“We are confident that as the Vacenti services transition, Estia Health will continue to uphold the values and standards that residents and staff know and trust,” he said.

“Our priority throughout this process has been to ensure continuity of care to residents, and we are pleased that Estia Health shares this commitment.”

This latest acquisition is part of a broader pattern of recent strategic growth for the provider, and is reflective of a dynamic period within the Australian aged care sector as organisations seek to both consolidate and expand services to meet growing demand.

In late 2024, it was announced that Estia Health would take over the ownership of three homes from Calvary Health Care in Robina, Noosa, and Gympie, gaining 406 residential aged care places.

In April, the provider again acquired seven homes from Aurrum Aged Care, three on the Central Coast of New South Wales and four in Melbourne, adding around 800 residential aged care places to their portfolio.

Most recently, Estia Health successfully acquired a further 260 residential aged care places with the takeover of Mark Moran Group’s Little Bay and Warrawee homes in metropolitan Sydney in June.

With this latest acquisition of Vacentia, Estia Health now owns 94 homes nationally. The takeover is expected to be finalised by mid-October.
